This team focuses on strategy to accelerate the automation of technical debt for the Stores accounting organization and is part of Amazon.com.

This position will lead a number of initiatives across the Stores Accounting organization, partnering with business and tech to reduce manual effort. This is a great time to join the team as there are many exciting, large scale projects in the pipeline. You will have the opportunity to influence the overall vision and strategy to automate Stores tech debt. Project size ranges from medium to large, and generally entail significant net new requirements due to the nature of tech debt automation. Some of our projects are cross-domain i.e. Retail inventory, Seller, Vendor funding and will allow the PM to learn the end to end Stores processes. Our projects focus on upstream systems and business automation. Many of our programs have funded headcount in tech teams and robust tech debt reduction roadmaps that aim to solve high impact tech debt in the next 2 - 4 year

Key job responsibilities

o Partner with tech teams and global Stores Accounting to develop, influence and prioritize tech debt reduction roadmaps. Evaluate trade-offs for roadmap prioritization with Accounting and tech teams.

o Own end to end delivery of complex and high visibility tech debt automation projects, working across tech teams and Accounting. This includes planning, requirements gathering, design, testing and launch.

o Develop SME knowledge in domain(s) such as Inventory, Vendor funding, Marketplace etc by deep diving into the business models, systems and transaction flows.

o Participate in system and automation design discussions with tech and Accounting to design scalable automation solutions.

o Identify automation paths for uncommitted tech debt with Accounting & Tech partners.

o Writes executive level documents to influence core stakeholders to take action to accelerate our automation path.

A day in the life

Day to day activities will look like as follows:

  • Project Management

  • Delivering accounting requirements to business & tech

  • UAT testing

  • Communicate program updates to relevant stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA

  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

  • • 5+ years of experience in program or project management

  • • Experience managing accounting / finance process improvement and/or technology projects with aggressive schedules

  • 5+ years of program/project management experience in a mid-size or large company with a proven record of successful delivery and customer obsession.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
