The Senior Manager, ITS Middleware Services is responsible for balancing the strategic priorities while ensuring tactical execution to develop solutions that are scalable, secure, and innovative, while providing an excellent user experience. As a people leader, this role leads a team of solution architects and software development engineers to build out reusable APIs and real-time events to enable application integration between multiple applications.
Leads and establishes priorities for a team of solution architects that consult with application and infrastructure engineers to fit projects to the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accommodate technology trends and business needs.
Shapes the long-term strategy and planning for governance standards by ensuring all interfaces and middleware components are designed consistently, perform as expected, and are managed for availability and capacity.
Makes decisions for standards around application development and support by engaging with IT application and infrastructure teams.
Collaborates with IT application and infrastructure teams to develop solutions that are scalable, secure, and innovative, while providing an excellent user experience.
Promotes the enterprise architecture process, outcomes, and results to the IT organization.
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking across team and function, development of talent and succession planning.
Participates in high level design activities, working closely with internal and external application service providers as an integration expert.
Ensures integration diagrams, service interface specifications, and other design documents focusing on middleware and interfaces are created and maintained.
Assesses the impact and feasibility of application integration architectural decisions to the enterprise architecture and to existing systems, applications, and projects.
Manages on-call support for all systems and components supported by the team.
Decide how to best resource projects and application support tasks/activities to align the right available resource with the right skill set.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
7 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines (e.g., application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, or operations) in a multitier environment.
4 years of leadership experience, with at least some of this experience directly leading people.
Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in computer science or a related discipline; or 2 additional years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Extensive technical and functional application integration and architecture experience.
Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
In depth understanding of Tibco, MQ Series, Service Gateways, SOA, and Event Driven Architecture.
Ability to balance the long-term/big picture and short-term implications of individual decisions.
Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
2 years of proven technical leadership experience.
Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
Understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate the politics.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
Strong leadership skills.
