We are seeking a dynamic and experienced senior manager to join the Global Coffee Engagement team. In this role, you will lead a team focused on designing and delivering global coffee engagement experiences that will inspire, equip and empower for Starbucks partners (employees) and customers to be meaningfully connected to Starbucks coffee culture and heritage. To advance this work, you will build and maintain effective strategic relationships inside and outside the organization to design pilots and programs with an eye towards industry trends, innovations, and scaling potential. One of the signature programs that you will oversee is the strategy, planning, and execution of the first-ever Starbucks Global Barista Championship in 2025. This groundbreaking event marks a significant milestone in our history, celebrating the craft, skill, and passion of our baristas on a global stage.

As a senior manager, you will…

  • Driving Program Strategy & Design : Design and execute coffee engagement events and experiences, with an eye towards elevating Starbucks coffee culture and leadership with partners and customers through innovation and differentiated experiences. Provide thought leadership and innovation to inform and advance key workstreams while setting strategies with input from global teams.

  • Program Execution & Event Management: Oversee and continuously optimize large-scale, complex, and highly visible programs connected to a broader enterprise strategy, including the development of the first-ever Global Barista Championship planned to occur in 2025. Oversee all aspects of event, from budgeting and timeline development to vendor management and on-site execution, ensuring the event is delivered on time and within budget.

  • Influencing Cross-functional Teams Across the Enterprise: Establishes and leads high performing cross-functional teams and engages team members in projects and programs.Partner with key stakeholders across various global functions, including marketing, operations, communication, and retail, to ensure alignment and successful execution.

  • Leading others: Able to set goals and priorities for an overall working team, while focusing on developing organizational capability and modeling how we work together. Identifies and communicates key responsibilities to individual partners and promotes a can-do attitude to achieve business results while driving meaningful impact. Will manage direct report(s), coaching and supporting their growth and development.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 5-10 years leading social or environmental impact programs and projects and/or leading strategy programs, projects, and cross-functional teams.

  • 5+ years of experience developing and executing strategies, managing multiple complex programs, and influencing others

  • 2+ years managing highly effective teams, demonstrated mentorship, or managing cross-functional teams

  • Highly collaborative style – strong ability to organize and manage cross-functional teams and relationships in a fast-paced environment, working with a high level of professional maturity

  • Experience clearly and concisely synthesizing and reporting on complex and diverse programs for a diverse group of audiences, representing the team and work with senior leadership, and creating and delivering executive presentations

  • Experience with budget oversight and management

  • Preferred: 5-10 years leading coffee programs and projects and/or leading strategy programs, projects, and cross-functional teams

  • Preferred: Progressive experience leading the development and implementation of new or existing products or strategies

  • Preferred: 4 year degree

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
