Leadership - Support the director in setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together.

  • Set the strategy and goals related to quality and operations to meet the needs of theglobal Starbucks business

  • Collaborate and influence across Starbucks globally to share best practices; align processes, standards, tools, and systems; and achieve strong results; Foster organization capability and model how we work together, both across functions and around the world

  • Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group along with measuring results using key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Provide coffee expertise and serve as relationship manager with key stakeholders (including executives and external suppliers)

  • Lead and coach an experienced team of Roasting and Manufacturing experts; Set goals for the team, design stretchy workplans, develop organizational capability, and model best practices in partnership across teams

  • Create an environment of high-performance for the team and promote leadership courage to enable risk-taking, continuous improvement, problem solving, and innovative thinking

  • Support the implementation of Enterprise coffee quality and manufacturing programs to ensure the success of Starbucks, add value by minimizing risk, redundancy, and overall implementation/support costs while improving quality and experience

Business Requirements - Provide coffee expertise and execute functional responsibilities for roasted coffee quality and operations through metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s).

  • Ensures deliverables meet or exceed expectations for quality, timeliness, performance, and budget.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage to key performance indicators (KPI's) and operating metrics.

  • Proactively lead the team to ensure compliance with key performance metrics and service level agreements, governance standards, policy, and procedures.

  • Serves as subject matter expert, advocate and relationship manager with key stakeholders and external suppliers, for escalations, continuous improvement and other projects and tasks designated by management.

  • Responsible for team's business continuity plan.

Operational Requirements - Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results.

  • Plan and manage business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking with forethought and innovation that translates to a plan based on priorities and financials.

  • Make balanced decisions in a timely manner and align key stakeholders and motivate the team to drive results.

  • Execute against key deliverables on-time and within budget and lead the team through continuous improvement.

  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut excessive costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintainstate-of-the-art practices.

We’d _ love to hear from people with:_

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, quality, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, international business, or other applicable fields (ideally with food and beverage experience)

  • Progressive experience leading a quality and operational team (10 years)

  • Project and/or program management experience (10 years)

  • Applicable coffee industry experience (5-10 years)

  • Proven record of successful collaboration and gaining alignment across the business and coffee industry to transform and achieve results. Ability to institute and drive process excellence and standards.

  • Strong organizational, negotiation, listening, communication skills, both verbal and written. Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards

  • Highly skilled and experienced in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Advanced

  • Skills in data visualization technology (Tableau and Power BI)

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
