In this role you will be a catalyst for innovation and a champion of the customer, getting to know them inside and out and reinventing their beverages experiences through new products and platforms. This dynamic individual will play a pivotal role in understanding consumer segments and identifying emerging trends. Through design-thinking techniques, you will lead teams from discovery through testing and into launch. You will guide cross functional teams through the innovation process, including the consumer insights team, research & development, marketing and operations. You will bring innovation to life through new products while modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles, mission and values.
Leveraging Your Previous Experience, We Will Enable You To:
Strategy Building | Independently gather and synthesize multiple data sources and research (including business, customer and partner) and leverage those insights to develop strategies and recommended paths forward
Innovation Mindset | Leverage HCD tools to drive discovery work, with an open-minded approach to problems, and ability to lead XF teams through often ambiguous path to market
Business Acumen | Develop and assess business case opportunities at all stages of development; manage conversations surrounding financial levers and able to articulate impact to project viability and path to market
Key Project Leadership | Lead multiple XF teams to advocate for projects and drive deliverables for upstream innovation
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leads cross-functional and/or cross-channel teams to develop and execute new products, tests and retail experiences, from concept to commercialization.
Manages project teams and timelines to deliver products and programs. Strong leadership of cross-functional partners required to ensure successful launch of innovations.
Contributes to developing innovation strategy reflecting competitive and consumer trends and market needs.
May assist in the creation of and maintenance of concept/platform/product positioning and guardrails ensuring relevancy across regions and channels.
Monitors the marketplace for new macro trends, consumer lifestyle trends, product innovations, competitors, and emerging technologies.
Analyzes business and consumer inputs to deliver compelling insights and recommendations for development or modification of concepts.
We’d love to hear from people with:
Experience in innovation, product marketing, retail concepts, or brand management in a retail or packaged goods environment or an agency that worked with such companies
Experience facilitating product or concept prototyping, building and testing – from low to higher fidelity
Functional experience in design-thinking, management consulting, corporate strategy, product marketing or retail concept development is also highly desirable
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience or four years US military experience
Progressive experience in product or brand management: 5-7 years
At least one year experience managing two or more budgets.
Experience in design-thinking, brand management or product innovation (via agency, retail, product, or brand management)
Experience in consumer research, analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data and turning data into insights and insights into recommendations, including experience conducting research directly with consumers
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Consistently uses communications skills to influence outcomes.
Ability to work in a matrix environment, able to collaborate cross functionally.
Strong Interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to confidently present objectives and desired outcomes to leadership and cross functional teams.
Ability to influencing others without authority to drive results.
