Responsible for monitoring/maintaining the technical standards and providing direction of a clinical laboratory science/ service, meeting continuous performance improvement, customer service, financial, and delivery requirements in support of Seattle Children’s mission, vision and values. In conjunction with the Medical Director, Laboratories, is responsible for the day-to-day functions of assigned area of science/service.

Required Education/Experience:

  • PhD in clinical laboratory discipline.

  • Three years of experience in the leadership of a clinical microbiology laboratory, OR

  • Two years of CPEP training, OR

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Medical Microbiology or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada three-year medical microbiology/infectious disease or five-year medical microbiology residency.

Required Credentials:

Preferred:

  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience within discipline (Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytogenetics, etc.)

  • Management and administrative experience with increasing responsibility in a clinical laboratory setting

  • Pediatric clinical testing and test development experience

  • Business planning and strategic development experience

  • Completion of certification by the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM)
