The Role

As the Sr Financial Analyst within FP&A, you will play a pivotal role in partnering regularly with a broad range of finance and business leaders across multiple grocery banners, supporting reporting, planning, and controllership.

Key job responsibilities

Opex Planning and Reporting

• Own and manage Opex planning for the Worldwide Retail Growth and Development (WWRGD) organization

• Oversee facilities, utilities occupancy, and G&A costs

• Run existing planning models monthly/quarterly

• Drive automation and scaling of financial Opex planning

• Simplify processes for business partners and stakeholders

Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Provide clear, concise, and insightful analysis and tables to support Opex management

• Identify and drive cost efficiency opportunities

• Prepare commentary and bridges for Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)

• Facilitate Month-End Close (MEC) processes

Business Partnering

• Serve as the Facilities Finance Partner to the WWRGD organization

• Collaborate with WWRGD business teams to understand initiatives and influence cost reduction

• Act as primary Finance POC for Utilities forecasting and reporting

Asset Management and Controllership

• Manage controllership deliverables and asset management

• Own accrual processes

• Process reclass requests

• Facilitate controllership capabilities

Additional Responsibilities

• Support ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed

A successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional financial modeling and analytical capabilities, partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, thrive in ambiguous environments as a self-starter, and show strong customer obsession and global thinking.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about the customer experience, as well as owning end-to-end financial reporting across multiple grocery banners, to operationalize and scale new and existing planning and reporting processes.

This role will have visibility to various finance and business teams, across Whole Food Markets and Amazon Grocery. Having a strong ownership mentality and the ability to influence, are essential to the success of this role.

About the team

The Grocery Finance organization is dedicated to shaping the long-term strategy and future of grocery, through omni-channel offerings and new physical store formats across Amazon.

Our Finance team plays a pivotal role in driving the grocery business strategy and innovation. Our team combines deep expertise in financial strategy, financial modeling/analysis, strategic planning and forecasting, capex management, operating expense optimization, and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).

We are backed by experience in grocery and retail financial operations, and our work directly impacts how customers shop for groceries across multiple channels.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
