Port of Seattle Senior Financial Analyst - Aeronautical Finance Team in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
This position serves as a financial partner and trusted advisor providing Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to the Utilities, Facilities & Infrastructure (F&I), and Capital Programs departments within the Aviation Division.
You will be a valued financial partner to the multiple departments that you support.
You will work with, manage, and maintain complex modeling excel spreadsheets and other systems and tools to aid in the advanced financial analyses required to provide the business units and senior management the information necessary to make informed decisions on operational, financial, and strategic decisions.
You will monitor actual results against budget assumptions and research significant variances as they occur.
You will develop and maintain a current year and long-term forecast for assigned lines of business.
You will manage the budget development process for operating expenses related to specific assigned departments adhering to budget guidelines and reflecting reasonable business assumptions.
You will prepare reports and present on financial performance results and potential risks and opportunities to your business partners and senior leadership.
You will manage the revenue requirement for costs that need to be recovered for the Utilities operations, including managing and developing the Utilities Tariff rates, and performing year-end true up reconciliations to calculate the surplus or deficits.
You will research and troubleshoot incorrect charging to cost codes and work with Accounting to book journal entries for corrections and accruals.
You will provide other support to the Aviation Finance & Budget team, collaborate and work with other teams on important projects and initiatives.
Who you are:
Experienced – You have five (5) years’ experience performing financial analysis, reviewing and analyzing business performance, developing reports and exhibits to communicate financial information, developing financial models for different purposes (ex. forecasting, budgeting, investment analysis using NPV (Net Present Value) and IRR (Internal Rate of Return) concepts, etc.), developing and analyzing operating budgets and forecasts, preforming complex reconciliations, evaluating business opportunities, and monitoring business activities.
Educated – You possess a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
Desired – You possess a master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field and have a finance credential such as; a CPA, FP&A, CFM or CGFM. We hope you have experience performing finance partner functions working with internal customers. We would like to see extensive experience in PeopleSoft or similar Tier 1 management information systems. Prior experience working in the aviation, port or transportation sector. Prior experience working with local government finance or accounting would also be a bonus.
Technical Knowledge - You have technical experience working with financial operations, financial analysis, budgeting and financial reporting and accounting.
Complex Financial Modeling – You’re an intermediate to advanced Excel user. Detail Oriented – You’re experienced working with reconciliations, creating and maintaining complex financial models, gathering and evaluating data from a variety of financial reporting systems.
Use of Technology – You’re proficient using Microsoft Applications, especially with Excel spreadsheets, and financial software applications. IND123

Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule is Monday through Friday - 40 hours per week.
Work Environment – Based on our current Flexible Work Arrangements Policy. Currently, the Finance and Budget departments are teleworking 100%. This could be subject to change in the future.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
