VMware Senior Engineering Manager - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Seattle, Washington

VMware Customer Experience and Success (CXS) Engineering team is helping accelerate digital transformation at VMware. The CXS Engineering team is responsible for development and transformation of Customer Support & Success, Professional Services and Education businesses.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be working with an impactful and highly motivated team of engineers, architects, domain experts, senior technology, and business leaders. You will have an opportunity to be part of the digital transformation journey of key business areas at VMware.

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and building great engineering teams and has deep experience in building highly available and highly secured applications. As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead and build a strong group of engineers and will be responsible to build modern applications and drive digital transformation at VMware.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

We need someone who can work with the business and stakeholders for right product designs, support our engineers while also helping them to leverage their knowledge and experience to build a solution that is adapted and evolved.

  • Within first 30 days, get to know your team and develop a high-level understanding of your team’s technical domain, scope, and responsibilities. Begin operating as a part of your team.

  • Within 60-90 days, understand the ecosystem from functional, technical, integration and domain point of view. Understand your team strengths, motivations & concerns. Begin operating as part of the program.

  • With 120 days to more, start to identify opportunities of improvement and optimizations and work with your team to brainstorm, discuss and propose probable solutions. Start connecting your team with the right opportunities ensuring broader outcomes.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • One of your key priorities will be your reports to guide, coach and mentor to help then grow.

  • Expand the team by hiring elite developers

  • Manage a team that designs and implements modern applications

  • Establish and maintain relationship with stakeholders, peer architects and engineering teams across the globe

  • Manage the project and deliver in a fast-paced support environment, driving all issues to resolution with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, stakeholder management, on-time delivery, and efficient task execution.

  • Work with global development teams – India, US locations

  • Lead the technical solution architecture, design, and framework for various asks from stakeholders

  • Preparing technical specifications, detailed design documents and developing frameworks using Cloud-Native technologies for Customer Experience & Success capabilities

  • An ideal candidate will have exposure to building applications using: Java, SpringBoot, PCF, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Observability

  • Identify innovation & optimization opportunities and groom the team to make these happen

  • Motivate & guide the team to have product mindset, ask questions like why before how

  • Increase transparency by creating a feedback loop between teams and leadership about the program's strategy, its business goals, and OKRs
