WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Senior Director specializing in Travel Demand Modeling to win and lead projects across the United States and beyond. This is a national position and can sit within any WSP office.
Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for the design, implementation, and administration of Advisory Service’s project and program involvement within the organization.
Lead the most complex and largest scale Advisory Services projects within the company, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors, external stakeholders, contract work, and employees.
Lead by example with fostering and providing “trusted advisor” service and future-ready solutions for clients.
Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and the successful execution of work for current and potential infrastructure work within a geography specifically for the large projects within the area.
Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Advisory Service’s work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (transportation, buildings, energy, water, environment, and power sectors).
Accountable for the profitable performance of the individual projects and the successful completion of the projects within the specified area.
Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business tactical action plans within the specified area.
Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local environment, design, construction, financial laws, codes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee internal vision and mission for the discipline within Advisory Services, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy, and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, reputation, and client value ratings are continuously improved.
Lead Advisory Services discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities for area of responsibility, providing updates and recommendations to staff that ensure all appropriate measures are taken to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery within the discipline.
Serve as an Advisory Services representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.
Build a portfolio of clients based on your technical expertise within a facet of Travel Modeling
Deliver solutions to clients that meet scope, schedule and budget expectations
Mentor, train and provide technical guidance to staff supporting your projects
Collaborate with other senior managers to determine long-range plans and objectives
Participate in business and professional development activities that shine a light on WSP's expertise and skillsets.
Who You Are
In recognition of the full strategic suite of services offered by Advisory Services, the following degree requirements apply:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Data Sciences, Business, Economics, Finance, Urban or Transportation Planning, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts, Public Policy, Operations Research, or closely related discipline.
15+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline, and in a management consulting or client advisory capacity.
Advanced proficiency with infrastructure planning, design, financial analysis of large-scale capital projects, construction management; including active involvement in a variety of design/build, rehabilitation, and new design projects.
15+ years of proven experience winning, managing and delivering travel demand modeling-related projects
R, Python, GISDK, Cube Script, and other programming/scripting language proficiency
Advanced knowledge of relevant laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, discipline-specific design software, technology, math principles, predictive models, data science, spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee"s career. Expected salary range $157,000-$250,000
