Description This Sr. Director Planning & Design will be responsible for the pre-planning and design phases of all capital projects in their assigned division. This role will manage the Directors of Planning & Design in their divisions in the oversight of projects from conception through the design development and will then support the construction team from construction documents through occupancy for projects in their division. This will be a highly visible role that will work closely with other platforms within RESO, including construction, environmental stewardship, operations, and finance; along with Divisional Leadership. Specifically, this role will effectively partner with the Strategy & Business Development teams to plan for and realize the built environment needs to successfully advance the divisions strategic initiatives. The Sr. Director Planning & Design will oversee the relationship with all consultants and vendors needed to support our master planning, pre-planning, and design phases of our project lifecycles. They will also be responsible for managing vendor and consultant relationships for all system-wide initiatives requiring architectural or other related engagements. Specifically, this role will ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget and that deliverables outlined in the engagement are adequately met. This role will also be involved in the development, management, and communication of our system architectural standards. This role will work closely with the other Sr. Directors Planning & Design, Strategy & Business Development Leadership, Operators, clinical leaders, and other RESO teams to drive innovative and sustainable design standards for our care environments. The Sr Director Planning & Design will serve as the architectural and space planning experts for Providence, driving our goals for sustainability, modernization, and efficiency in our built environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for the development of market and site specific planning strategies with senior leadership across select ministries across the health system. Develops and leads multidisciplinary approach to ensure that sponsors, project managers, vendors and others obtain appropriate input from all stakeholders. Responsible for managing vendor contracts ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget, establishing clear scopes, and ensures that vendor and consultant performance is consistent with agreed upon scope. Responsible for partnering with strategic planning teams to achieve strategic objectives involving the built environment, ensuring alignment with system priorities and supporting projects through key approval gateways through the design document phase. Leads long-range market and site specific master planning efforts including management of the process in which plans are developed and maintained to ensure every market in the division has a current master plan that supports capital planning. Accountable for providing continuous feedback to executive sponsors, senior leadership and others regarding project status. Assimilates emerging conditions and trends in health care and applies it to planning and design efforts across the system. Responsible for providing regular briefs to the Executive Director regarding master plans and project concerns, and updates. Provides direction to the internal/external teams and participates in state and local legislative and regulatory bodies as appropriate to facilitate the approval process for health care facility master planning, land use applications, zoning changes and traffic entitlements.
