The College of the Environment has an exciting opening for a Senior Director for Advancement. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The College of the Environment is the largest college of the environment of it’s kind in the United States and houses a dynamic combination of programs across fundamental science, environmental science and policy. The College aims to be a world leader in environmental discovery and scholarship — translating innovative science into real-world impact — through a combination of leadership and impactful connection with various communities. The Environment Advancement team supports the Dean in this goal by engaging donors and friends and strengthening relationships and support for the College.

This position serves as a high-level, key strategic leader whose focus is on developing and executing strategies to solicit significant gifts of impact in support of the College of the Environment. This role collaborates with the Associate Dean for Advancement, academic leaders, and volunteers, and is a key partner in designing and implementing development programs to sustain significant gift identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

What You Will Do: Frontline Fundraising 50%

• Develop and facilitate relationships with those who have the capacity to make gifts of impact to the College of the Environment and the University. • Build and sustain long-term partnerships and trust while aligning donor passion and goals with those of the University. • Manage a portfolio of prospects, with an emphasis on significant capacity-level gifts. • Generate new leads and qualify gift prospects and planned gifts from research, prospect tracking tools, donor base, faculty networks and fundraising colleagues. • Prepare gifts. • Ensure accurate and complete record-keeping and relevant donor acknowledgements.

Strategy and Program Development 25%

• Discern and inform strategic approaches that promote the philanthropic priorities for the College of the Environment and the University. • Assist the Associate Dean with establishing annual goals and objectives and developing policies and procedures for the College of the Environment’s advancement program. This includes designing and implementing advancement programs needed to sustain and increase college support. • Regularly evaluate programs, assess progress toward goals, and report on results. • Support marketing and communications efforts, including editing and proofreading information, as needed.

Team Management and University Leadership 25%

• Manage and develop a team of major gift officers. • Help lead and manage the College of the Environment’s advancement efforts. • Professionally articulate and advocate for the College of the Environment and University’s mission and funding priorities. • Cultivate, nurture and sustain a culture of individual giving within the College of the Environment and University. • Represent the College of the Environment at donor events and at University, community and professional functions, as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree and at least six years of experience in development/advancement or a related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:

• In-depth understanding of donor strategies that best serve the fundraising mission. • Experience leading, mentoring, managing or developing staff and teams. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Dedication to the College and University’s mission and vision in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

What You Can Expect:

• Some evening and weekend hours are required, as necessary, on short or limited notice. • Frequent local travel expected.

Application Process: The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process. These assessments may include Work Authorization, Cover Letter and/or others. Any assessments that you need to complete will appear on your screen as soon as you select “Apply to this position”. Once you begin an assessment, it must be completed at that time; if you do not complete the assessment, you will be prompted to do so the next time you log into your “My Jobs” page.
