You should be highly self-motivated and able to work independently, collaboratively, and flexibly in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment; and adapt your approach and demeanor to match shifting demands of different situations. Success requires self-motivation, inquisitiveness, confidence, diligence and a passion to learn about new technologies and to pave ways in unchartered territories. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting product development, readiness and releases by reviewing product release checklists for issues related to intellectual property, open source, data privacy & security, marketing, competition, payment, and other legal and regulatory issues, with a focus on AI/ML legal issues

  • Building a trusted advisor relationship with senior managers and leaders across the organization

  • Performing due diligence to help ensure compliance with third-party agreements, open source licenses, security attestations and applicable certifications and government regulations

  • Developing positive, strong, and cohesive relationships with cross-functional partners across Splunk to optimally deliver on sophisticated tasks and provide solutions to mitigate legal risks;

  • Understanding technical lingo and concepts as well as be fluent in enterprise software development methods and business models

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating technology and partnership agreements, including EULAs, Terms of Service, inbound/OEM license agreements, MSP/ISV agreements, partner interoperability agreements, strategic alliance agreements, and consulting and development agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • JD degree from ABA accredited university and in good standing of the Bar with 8+ years of experience providing legal support to technology businesses at both a well-regarded law firm and corporate legal department

  • Expertise in intellectual property, open source issues, data privacy, and information and product security

  • A keen interest in AI technology and familiarity with current AI/ML policy and regulation and the ability to keep up to speed where the technological, legal, and regulatory landscape is fast moving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on AI-powered products or services in a legal counseling capacity.

  • Experience working with software developers and product managers to guide compliance and resolve complicated issues in creative and effective ways

  • Experience navigating complex issues, and driving high-impact projects, in a large cross-functional environment
