We are a premier legal counselor to companies worldwide in a wide range of industries, including banking & financial institutions; development & infrastructure; energy & natural resources; food, beverage & agribusiness; healthcare; and technology.We are seeking a Senior Billing Specialist in our Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, or Seattle office. As a member of our billing team, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the billing process and will be responsible for all the billing components for assigned clients and attorneys. In this position, you will also continually evaluate and recommend new procedures to meet the changing needs of our clients, attorneys, and Firm. Additional Responsibilities Include:Implement billing procedures for assigned attorneys.Ensure accurate and timely processing of all bills. Monitor changes in billing procedures, policies and billing attorney responsibilities.Ensure that assigned attorneys have satisfied all required monthly billing responsibilities in accordance with clearing deadlines. Coordinate with assigned lawyer to determine action on each component of that attorney’s monthly billing responsibilities.Prepare and work on more complicated bills from, taking into account special billing instructions, rates and making corrections as indicated. Administer alternative fee arrangement billing, including fixed fee, task-based fixed fee, and capped fee billing.Prepare and send final bills and related correspondence. Complete audit for each bill to ensure accuracy.Prepare necessary transfers or write-offs, obtaining required approvals. Prepare deferral requests for assigned attorneys in accordance of the billing guidelines and requirements as needed. Enter deferral explanation note in system, obtain billing review partner approval when needed, and submit prior to clearing deadline.Assist Accounts Receivable in the review of Statement of Accounts; provide current information for Accounting Department reminder notice process.Prepare additional billing detail, breakdowns, analysis as requested by clients, attorneys or accounting personnel; correspond with client contacts.Maintain billing records and provide follow-up assistance to attorneys, secretaries and clients regarding questions or problems arising from billing. Provide spreadsheets, reporting, etc. to client when requested.Evaluate and suggest opportunities for improved billing operations at the Firm.May be requested to perform other duties not mentioned above.What we’re looking for: *High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. *At least 5-10 years of experience in billing at a law firm. *Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all levels of personnel. *Excellent customer service skills. *Ability to work independently in a deadline driven environment. *Accurate 10-key by touch skills. *Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. *Legal billing experience with computerized systems. *E-billing experience with various e-billing vendors, ebillingHub. *Experience in a large law firm (preferred). *Experience working directly with clients (preferred).
