Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Senior Analyst, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) in Seattle, Washington
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its People Analytics team in Human Resources. The Senior Analyst of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) will craft and implement analytics-driven solutions in and outside of the function for the foundation’s most pressing human capital priorities. This role’s main focus will be on supporting the foundation’s DEI efforts but may also include support for other foundation initiatives including: organizational and team effectiveness analyses (e.g., manager effectiveness) and talent analytics (e.g., hiring, career movement, retention and talent diversity impacts).
The Senior Analyst role is responsible for distilling and delivering the output of multivariate cross-purpose analyses into meaningful insights that enable the foundation to improve its processes and decision-making strategies. Key to success in this position is to serve as a strategic partner and consultant to leadership within HR, Operations and with cross-foundation senior & executive leadership.
Design, document, implement and maintain an ongoing measurement strategy for DEI – defining metrics, dimensions, data sources, targets and tactics distilled from the foundation’s strategic objectives.
Ability to craft, implement and analyze survey data, including delivery of measurable insights from the survey results to the primary partners.
Draft technical documents and white papers summarizing analytics research projects, including shorter executive summaries for presentation to senior & executive leadership.
Use data and analysis methodologies to address business questions or problems and uncover insights that support foundation leaders in making strategic, data-driven decisions.
Provide data, analysis and reporting (data visualization) deliverables in support of foundation programs, policies or initiatives. Present resulting analysis, context and key insights to senior leaders.

Core Knowledge and Skills
People Analytics Background
At least one year working within the field of people analytics.
Statistical Acuity & Applied Approaches to HR
Familiarity with descriptive and basic inferential statistics (e.g., t-test, chi-square, z-score, correlation, multi-variate regression, time series forecasting) to understand usage behaviors, and generate and test hypotheses.
A demonstrable ability to apply and integrate descriptive, and basic predictive analyses to develop strategic and operational insights for HR and organization-wide decision-making (e.g., DEI, organizational and team effectiveness, and talent analytics).
Data Preparation and Data Set Creation
Comfort working with sophisticated business problems and issues using structured and unstructured data from both internal and external sources.
Experimental Design and Methodology
Experience crafting and analyzing A/B/n experiments, using appropriate statistical techniques to mitigate bias and interpret statistical significance.
Key to this role is to identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets to locate influence points, as well as the ability to construct forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and subject area expertise.
Survey Expertise & System Administration
Support enterprise wide survey platform, craft and deploy surveys, collaborate with users and report and interpret results.
Storytelling with Data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience distilling and presenting sophisticated data analyses to large and small, technical and non-technical, audiences.
Provide consultation to partners within and outside of HR, and leading multi-functional teams to address business issues with data-driven written reports, summaries and dashboards.
Strategy Consulting and Action Planning
Use data to drive decision making, determine work to be done, assess changes, adapt plans, measure progress, and follow-through on getting the work done in service of the desired client experience outcome(s).
Make recommendations to HR and foundation leadership regarding People Analytics strategy, working with deep technical domain expertise.
Use functional skills and knowledge to provide solutions to our clients in a consultative manner.
Ability, curiosity, and willingness to learn from experiences and failures to adapt and adopt new ways of being and thinking to further the impact of the foundation (e.g., try new things, challenge status quo, be open).

Education and Experience
5+ years of experience in people analytics or other relevant sector with exposure to people/HR data
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in quantitative Social or Physical Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science
Proficiency in a variety of analytical platforms, software languages and statistical tools, including:
Microsoft Office suite of products
Data warehouse and management tools (Azure, SQL, AWS, Redshift)
Data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Data preparation and manipulation tools (Alteryx, Python, Databricks)
Enterprise survey platform administration and utilization (Ultimate Perception, Culture Amp, Glint)
Multivariate statistical platforms and/or languages (R, SAS, Stata, SPSS)
