Swedish Medical Center Security Supervisor in Seattle, Washington

Swedish Shared Services is looking for an Security Supervisor (1.0 FTE, Evenings) in Accreditation And Safety at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA

Oversees and maintains the flow and balance of work in the Security Department. Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and a working environment that promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction, and for ensuring that the standards of service are met for the Security department in a manner consistent with SMC's/EDM's mission, vision and values. Persons holding this position must be able to perform all of the duties and functions of a Security Officer, including initial incident response, interviewing and investigations. This position may be required to work on multiple campuses and shifts.

In this position you will:

  • Work with Leads to set staff schedules and ensures adequate staffing within the allocated FTE budget. Authorizes vacation and time off requests. Manages time off to minimize impact on operations and budget.Resolves staffing issues.

  • Maintain KRONOS records and ensures compliance with KRONOS, time and attendance policies.

  • Review incident reports and other data and makes reports to the Manager and to committees on performance and compliance in areas of responsibility.

  • Manage daily operations of the department effectively.

  • Conduct security investigations and interviews.

  • Act as expert on security matters for the campus. Works well in conjunction and in cooperation with other departments.

  • Effectively documents and resolves employee performance and behavior issues. Maintains documentation of deficiencies and plans for employee performance improvement. Conducts disciplinary actions up to verbal warnings and involves the Manager if further disciplinary action is needed. Conducts performance evaluations of staff and solicits input from leads regarding performance levels.

  • Advises manager when new or revised policies are needed to improve department operations.

  • Proficient in access control and camera systems and is able to perform basic troubleshooting. Can program doors, create photo ID badges, set access levels, and save video from the DVR system.

  • Review Security Incident Reports for accuracy, spelling and grammar. Distributes reports in a timely manner.

  • Assists Training Supervisor with departmental training and required annual staff education. Helps make staff available for training seasons. Forwards all training documentation and certificates to Training Supervisor.

  • Effectively manages and sustains relationships with other departments and external contacts, including area Security departments and public safety agencies.

  • Respond in a timely manner to employee concerns. Documents concerns and actions taken for follow-up.

  • Assigns primary and follow-up incident investigations.Advises manager of any incidents that could have a noticeable impact on department or medical center operations. Ensures resolution and communicates resolution to affected parties.

  • Maintain good working relationship with Leads and Security Officers and works effectively with property management and tenants.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position:

  • Associate's Degree Or equivalent or two years of related training and experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in healthcare security.

  • Valid Washington State Drivers License required, with insurable driving record.

  • NDMS Level 100 or higher certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years related experience and/or training desired, preferably in Healthcare Security and Safety.

  • Basic Security Officer Certification and Supervisory Development Certification through International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety, preferred.
