Amazon Security Engineering Manager, Devices and Services Security in Seattle, Washington
Description
Come join the Amazon Devices & Services Security team dedicated to the protection and security of Amazon consumer devices. Our team performs low-level review of OS components and device services, performing design and code reviews, implementing mitigations and designing and creating tools to instrument, analyze and present insights in areas of potential security exposure.
As a security engineering manager at Amazon, you will be expected to speak authoritatively on behalf of your team and your technical knowledge should demonstrate both depth and breadth. You will be responsible for your team’s organizational structure and how that team works within the context of the larger Amazon Security organization. Leveraging the strengths of individual team members, delegating tasks appropriately and managing delivery of long term projects will all be critical tasks for this role. A security manager has deep knowledge in their domain and is a sought after thought leader across the organization. They have both management and technical expertise and actively participate in the organization’s planning processes.
Key job responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop a team of Security Engineers responsible for the security of Amazon devices including e-readers, tablets, multimedia smart-home controllers and other IoT devices.
Lead the strategic direction and evolution of the Device OS/platform Security team, including setting goals and establishing priorities and metrics.
Set the direction for the team by driving strategic initiatives, influencing leadership, key stakeholders, and partnering with teams throughout Amazon.
Develop a healthy and collaborative culture and enable the team to deliver results.
Lead effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
Lead improvements to internal programs and processes.
Write and deliver high-quality documents for technical and non-technical audiences.
Drive the adoption of security processes, automation, and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience leading, managing & developing high performance teams
5+ years of progressive experience within a software security team or similar operating environment
BA/BS in computer science, information security, related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and involvement with development team(s) that delivered commercial software, services, or hardware devices
Experience with consumer devices and their operating systems
Experience partnering and influencing cross functional engineering, and testing teams to drive security improvements in complex environments
Hands-on knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, risk analysis, and software testing techniques.
5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
