Amazon Security Engineer I, Customer Logistics Security in Seattle, Washington

Description

Our team at Customer Logistics Security is responsible for securing Amazon's WorldWide Operations and Physical Retail Stores.

We are looking for a security engineer to join our team’s efforts to help keep our customers secure. In this role, you will be responsible for performing security reviews and assessments of the organization's infrastructure systems, applications, and cloud environments to identify potential vulnerabilities and risks. You will strive to understand systems, software, and services deeply to find security weaknesses and gaps. You will help mitigate vulnerabilities/risks by providing actionable guidance to engineering teams and drive long term security improvements. You will build automation and tooling to solve security problems at scale for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality security reviews of infrastructure systems, applications, and cloud environments.

  • Assist in the implementation of security controls and hardening measures to mitigate identified risks.

  • Review and assess infrastructure configurations, policies, and procedures for compliance with security best practices and industry standards.

  • Create detailed engagement plans and thoroughly document findings, gaps, and remediation recommendations.

  • Contribute to security tooling and improvements.

  • Collaborate with partner teams and service owners to influence, prioritize, and drive the resolution of discovered security findings.

A day in the life

As a security engineer, you will perform various day-to-day activities related to ensuring the security of Amazon's systems. These tasks may include conducting security reviews to identify vulnerabilities in infrastructure systems that could be exploited by attackers, providing training and outreach to internal development teams to improve their understanding of security best practices, developing security guidance documentation to help others understand how to implement secure systems and applications, delivering security metrics to stakeholders and working on improving the overall security posture of our customers

Basic Qualifications

  • Are enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in infrastructure security, application security or related field.

  • 1+ year of scripting experience (in Python, JavaScript, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Are enrolled in or have completed a Master's degree

  • Experience in identity management and authentication, cryptography, and network security.

  • Experience with source code review (in C, C# or Java) to find security issues.

  • Knowledge of operating system (Windows or Linux) security.

  • Experience with cloud security concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
