FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Seasonal Band/Musician will be responsible for playing brass and singing for holiday events around the Northwest Division. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with Officers and DHQ staff in the Program, Youth, Music, and Development Departments Play and/or sing for various events during the Kettle season. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: Experience in brass instrumental performance and singing choral performances. Ability to read music at an accomplished level, treble clef preferred Ability to work with and relate to people of various backgrounds in a nondiscriminatory manner regardless of age, sex, cultural history, ethnicity, economic level, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. Strong communication skills demonstrated by experience in working with speakers of English as a second language, as well as cross-cultural communication. Adhere to all Salvation Army policies and procedures. Familiarity with The Salvation Army's area of service. Perform other duties as required. Be available to perform at kettle sites and events in Washington and Idaho and on weekends. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis and for long periods of time Ability to move and pack music stands and chairs in and out of vehicles Ability to play in various types of weather Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes) Ability to understand written information DRIVING CRITERIA AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License. Must be able to pass Washington State MVR check. Must be able to pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test. Ability to drive own and/or assigned TSA vehicles. (Based on availability) Transporting equipment to corps locations or programs. Working Conditions: Work is primarily conducted in a sheltered environment, with occasional outdoor duties. The indoor setting ensures a consistent and predictable work environment, free from the discomfort of inclement weather changes. However, some discomfort may be related to noise, dust, dirt, and similar factors. For the occasional outdoor tasks, please dress according to the weather forecast.
