This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be a part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists who help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems that meet Blue Origin's launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the structural analysis work of a rocket engine program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Developing Component Finite Element Models (FEM) based on interaction with the design and engine system analysis team and performing classic hand calculations and FEM Simulations of rocket engine primary and secondary structure, including gimbals, ducts, brackets, and instrumentation. You will also use structural analysis methods to support test and failure investigations and improve existing analytical capabilities while providing mentorship to design and structural analysis engineers to improve the performance of designs. Additional responsibilities may include authoring or reviewing structural reports to support requirements, collaborating with IPT teams to ensure deliverables are met on schedule, and working with program and functional leadership to tackle structural problems. Minimal Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or aerospace engineering. 2+ years of experience in structural analysis applying FEM (level commensurate with experience). Excellent understanding of structural analysis/mechanics. Ability to work effectively in teams. Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time. Ability to communicate analysis results effectively. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical is strongly desired.
