UW Medical Center-Northwest - Medical-Surgical Unit at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Per Diem Registered Nurse. This is a great opportunity to join a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive facility designed to transform the way we approach mental health care.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Per diem schedule / variable hours each week

  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts

  • Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts

  • Must be able to work at least 4 shifts every 4 weeks DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The Medical-Surgical Unit at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning supports a wide range of individuals, including low acuity patients and patients with multiple comorbidities

  • We are a unique unit, providing dedicated medical-surgical and telemetry care to the behavioral health population

  • We consistently hold 1:4 and 1:5 nurse to patient ratios

  • We recently expanded to 50 beds

  • Our patients receive holistic treatment, addressing their physical, medical, and mental health needs ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , which opened on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility features a multitude of specialty units and houses an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State.   • Provide medical-surgical care to behavioral health patients, including those with psychiatric comorbidities

  • Ensure patient safety protocols are followed, including restraint protocols

  • Administer oral and injectable medications

  • Monitor patient vitals

  • Provide education and discharge instructions to patients and their families

  • Provide personalized care with compassion, dignity, and respect REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years of medical-surgical, skilled facility, psychiatric, or long term care nursing experience

  • Active BLS
