The Program in Immunology in the Clinical Research Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to support the development of genetically modified T cell immunotherapy for cancer. The successful candidate will utilize a variety of cutting-edge cellular and molecular techniques to analyze T cell immunity.

The Research Technician II will work in the laboratory and be closely involved in the preclinical development of new T cell therapies and their translation into clinical trials. They should be capable of maintaining detailed laboratory records, analyzing data, managing supplies, and reporting experimental results in a fast-paced environment. They will conduct standard and investigative laboratory work by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data, performing calculations, and preparing charts, graphs, and summaries.

This position works under the direction of the Principal Investigator and senior laboratory personnel and will be involved in the following techniques/duties:

  • Tissue culture of mammalian cell lines and (patient-derived) primary human/murine cells

  • Murine colony management including murine handling, tissue collection and injection techniques

  • Murine tissue processing and preparation of primary cells for subsequent assays

  • Lentiviral and retroviral vector construction, modification, and viral transduction

  • Flow cytometry-based immunophenotyping and FACS isolation of mammalian cells

  • Purification, cloning, and manipulation of genomic/plasmid DNA, cDNA, and RNA

  • PCR and qRT-PCR, including Taqman quantitative assays

  • General laboratory duties and maintenance of laboratory equipment

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology

  • Two years of related post-college experience working in a laboratory

  • In vivo murine model work experience

  • Mammalian cell culture experience

  • The candidate must be detail oriented and a fast and willing learner

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in molecular genetics, viral vector production, multi-color flow cytometry, FACS, and T cell functional assays is highly desirable

  • The ideal candidate is interested in a 2+ year commitment in the Riddell Lab
