The University of Washington’s Department of Epidemiology has an excellent opportunity for a Temporary, Part-Time Research Study Coordinator I (Fixed Duration for 6 months at 50% FTE). This position will support the operation of a small study to evaluate whether HPV self-sampling could improve access to cervical cancer screening for women with HIV and unhoused individuals. Eligible individuals will be asked to self-collect a vaginal sample at the clinic or at home and complete a one-time survey. The goal of the study is to identify ways to make it easier for people to get screened for cervical cancer. The study is being conducted by investigators in the Department of Epidemiology in partnership with investigators and clinicians in the Department of Medicine. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Under direction from Principal Investigator, the Research Study Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities, including, but not limited to: • Recruit and screen research participants for eligibility according to protocols and established study criteria • Perform informed consent activities • Explain research procedures and objectives to subjects and answer general questions about the study • Assemble self-sampling kits • Administer surveys • Contact participants with reminders to complete study procedures • Coordinate study activities with clinicians, laboratory partners, and other collaborators • Distribute compensation • Assist in developing a computerized system for tracking participants and study operations • Assist with development of data collection forms • Enter study-related data into electronic forms • Assist in developing a computerized system for tracking study participants and monitor data quality control to ensure adherence to study protocols • Assist in modification of procedures for collecting and summarizing data • Other related duties as required Study recruitment and procedures will involve a combination of in-person and phone-based interaction. In-person activities will take place at Harborview Medical Center. Other activities could be done remotely. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • At least two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience as a Research Study Assistant OR equivalent education/experience. • Experience with data entry DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and function as part of a team • Experience with clinical research • Experience with REDCap or other database management tools • Ability to commute to research sites to collect specimens (Harborview Medical Center and a site in North Seattle).
