Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Scientist II in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: We are looking for a qualified Research Scientist to provide support for daily laboratory operations and assist in multiple research projects. The successful candidate will interact daily with group members at all levels to provide basic safety and microbiological training, as well maintain laboratory operations. The Parish Lab works on understanding the biology of the causative agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and discovering and developing novel drugs for tuberculosis. Responsibilities: * Manage laboratory operations for the Parish Lab * Provide basic safety training for staff * Provide basic laboratory training for staff * Conduct experimental work for a range of research projects * Provide basic training and supervision for microbiology * Provide safety training to staff and maintain staff safety records * Train staff in use of standard scientific equipment * Maintain and oversee laboratory inventories * Maintain equipment in good working order and schedule routine maintenance * Develop costing for equipment repair, maintenance, and replacement * Approve, assign, and track costs and expenditures. * Maintain and review SOPs pertaining to research * Oversee completion of laboratory notebooks * Write and maintain IACUC and BMUA records and protocols * Acquire and maintain CDC permits * Oversee exit procedures for departing staff * Run weekly lab meetings * Assist with laboratory operations for chemistry and robotics laboratories Requirements: Required Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; may require a Master's degree for certain lab specialties. - Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a related area/laboratory setting. Preferred: - Master's degree in applicable field/research specialty highly preferred. - Significant experience conducting research in area of specialization. - Some experience with laboratory management. Min to Max Hourly Salary: $30.37 - $45.55 /hr Min to Max Annual Salary: $63,169.60 - $94,744.00 /yr Salary Information: This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
