The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a Part Time Research Scientist 1.
The position will be focused on research activities, specifically focused on working in the Vascular Imaging Lab from a remote environment. The researcher will report to Dr. Mossa-Basha, the Director of the Vascular Imaging Lab. The research activities will include image analysis, chart review, data collection, IRB preparation and submission, data user agreement preparation and submission, manuscript preparation, abstract submission, and abstract presentation at national and international meetings.
This incumbent will review and analysis experience, specifically neurovascular imaging review experience, including intracranial and extracranial vessel wall MRI, diffusion weighted imaging, brain and neck MRI and MRA, DCE perfusion of vascular lesions and spine metastases, and diffusion tensor imaging of the spine.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Image analysis, data collection, and chart review (80%)
This will include gathering relevant study data from patient charts.
Imaging review, including qualitative assessment of imaging, imaging annotation for artificial intelligence applications, and image preparation for quantitative processing.
Organization and curation of data in preparation for statistical analysis.
Coordination with other investigators for data collection, analysis and review.IRB and DUA preparation and submission (10%)
Preparation and submission of IRB documents for studies. Follow-up on questions from the IRB.
Preparation and submission of data user agreements for external collaborations.Group engagement, presentation, manuscript preparation, and discussion (10%)
Engagement, coordination and collaboration with team members to facilitate successful research.
Presentation of research findings at lab meetings, national and international conferences.
Discussion with mentors and lab members on research projects and areas for improvement or modification of methodology.
Writing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.Self/Team Development

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience, OR Equivalent combination of education/experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
MRI, CT, CTA image analysis review experience, clinical medical experience and knowledge for chart review and data collection. Experience with scientific research, manuscript and abstract preparation and submission, and oral presentation. English proficiency or fluency. This is a 50% position. Schedule is normally within the hours of 8a to 5p, M-F but is not always fixed and workload does vary. The incumbent’s first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule. Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.
