The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, welcomes applications for Research Coordinator positions at any time. Research Coordinators must be able to work independently with collaboration and oversight by a variety of faculty investigators on assigned research study tasks. These positions require a high level of skill in problem solving, communication, and organization; Research Coordinators take proactive responsibility for study progress and achieving study aims. This position will assist in the design of studies and dissemination of study results for investigator-initiated studies. Ideal candidates will demonstrate resourcefulness, well-honed project management skills, and a collegial/collaborative communication style.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under direction from Principal Investigators, Research Coordinators are responsible for the following activities, including, but not limited to:

Protocol Development and Management (40%)

  • Design, iterate, and improve study protocols to achieve study aims.

  • Implement research project procedures that meet research objectives and ensure compliance with all aspects of Institution, federal, and sponsor regulations pertaining to clinical research in human subjects.

  • Design, develop, document and maintain policies and procedures for patient registration and protocol implementation to ensure that research execution meets Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

  • Work with analysts and Principal Investigators to design, create and revise research instruments as necessary to ensure quality data that satisfies research objectives.

  • Write human subjects approval applications including informed consent documents, modifications, and progress reports that meet institutional guidelines and satisfy Institutional Review Board requirements.

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to ensure protocol adherence and data integrity.

  • Assist in development and design of research project procedures that meet research objectives.

  • Work with Clinical Trials Office and study sponsors to create billing grid and OnCore footprint.

  • Manage OnCore data entry.

  • Take the lead on all aspects of clinical trial set up; act as primary liaison with sponsors in this process.Study Coordination (40%)

  • Oversee day-to-day research-related participant recruitment and retention activities.

  • Manage communications and maintain effective working relationships with research teams and clinical providers, and external stakeholders.

  • Continually assess priorities to ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within required time frames to meet research objectives.

  • Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders (e.g. UW Grant and Contract Services, UW Human Subjects Review Committee, Clinical Research Budgets & Billing, study sponsors, clinic teams and managers) to ensure timely implementation of each research project.

  • Maintain confidentiality of research subjects.

  • Maintain secure patient database/medical chart abstraction from data available in EPIC.

  • May direct the work of student helper, research assistant or research trainees.

  • Order and stock supplies as needed.

  • Reconcile and manage study budgets.

  • Attend team meetings.

  • Serve as a liaison between study investigators, subjects, and collaborators.

  • Prepare subject education materials as needed.Data Management & Analysis (20%)

  • Conduct qualitative interviews, observations, and/or focus groups.

  • Manage database quality/QC checks.

  • Perform qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis.

  • Present/disseminate findings via publications, presentations, and other means.Other Duties as AssignedDepending on the study or investigative team needs, Research Coordinators may also perform some of the following tasks up to 10% of the time as part of their Study Coordination duties:

  • Perform clinical procedures as necessary, including but not limited to phlebotomy, finger sticks nasal swabs, and fetal cord blood collection.

  • Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with study protocols- label, catalogue, transport and store laboratory samples.

  • Minimally process blood and other samples as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in social, behavioral, health, or biomedical sciences AND at least 1 year in research coordination. Equivalent experience can substitute for education. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated interest in Obstetrics and Gynecology research.

  • Commitment to reproductive justice and abortion access.

  • Ability in Spreadsheets (e.g., Excel).

  • Experience managing study databases.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex tasks on time with minimal supervision.
