As a UW employee, you have a unique opportunity to change lives on our campuses, in our state and around the world. UW employees offer their boundless energy, creative problem-solving skills and dedication to build stronger minds and a healthier world.

The Gynecologic Research and Cancer Equity (GRACE, www.gracecenteruw.com (https://www.thedolllabgroup.com/) ) within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Project Manager (Research Coordinator (E S 9)). The mission of GRACE is to act to investigate and ameliorate causes of disproportionate suffering from benign and oncologic gynecologic health conditions, so that all people may live full and healthy reproductive lives. GRACE supports research and dissemination programs devoted to the study of multi-level causes of health inequity and injustice in gynecologic care, with a focus on marginalized populations. We believe that gynecologic health spans the lifetime and is intimately linked with gynecologic cancers that affect individuals later in life. GRACE research staff have extensive experience in patient and stakeholder engagement, community-academic partnerships, qualitative and quantitative analyses, patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, translational research, implementation science, and dissemination to achieve these goals.

How we do our work is as important as the work itself. As a member of the GRACE team, we expect that you will participate in and support the following agreements based on the principles that guide our interactions with each other:

We value kindness, warm community, high quality work, curiosity, growth and radical innovation. We take time to appreciate people’s work and efforts. We trust each other to do a good job and to ask each other for what we need to do so. We also set realistic work plans and timelines, incorporating adequate time for collaboration. We focus on responsiveness with empathy getting others what they need without creating a false sense of urgency.

Improving the work is the work. We will identify opportunities for process improvement and put in place changes. This includes making time to ask for and provide suggestions. We recognize that mistakes are an opportunity to improve processes, tools, and knowledge. Feedback focuses on process, not personal behaviors or characteristics.

We respect and value each member’s experience and expertise. We collaborate to achieve our goals. We focus on transparency and inclusion in decision-making. We define good leadership as developing the power and skills of others.

This position works with OBGYN faculty and staff within GRACE to manage programs of and/or significant components of several research projects of varying size and scope. This new position will be responsible for managing a program of projects centered on The SISTER Study (www.oursisterstudy.org). The SISTER Study is an ongoing multi-site national randomized trial of peer support interventions for Black women with high-risk endometrial cancer funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). GRACE serves as the Intervention Coordinating Center and Stakeholder Coordinating Center for this one-of-a-kind, milestone-driven study that involves 10 sites and hundreds of participants nationwide. SISTER is also the foundation of several other ancillary projects focused on the science of engagement, clinical trial design for marginalized populations, and translational research on the biological impacts of racism. This position will manage these projects and components of multiple projects across GRACE as needed.

In accordance with UW’s relevant telework policies and processes, this position can be a hybrid arrangement that accommodates up to 60% remote work time.

Complexities This is a standing position that will assume responsibility for an ongoing trial that features a complex community-based intervention, currently about halfway to goal enrollment, alongside recently launched ancillary projects that are in early phases. This position will therefore need to navigate the complexities of establishing and maintaining programmatic management strategies for several ongoing projects as well as simultaneously supporting the planning and startup of new projects. This position must also be able to manage components of projects managed by others as needed and interface effectively with a rapidly growing team that works mostly via telework. This position requires engagement with a variety of stakeholders, including physicians, researchers, junior trainees, other personnel (e.g., research coordinators, nurses), patients, and community members. Finally, this position must embrace a collaborative approach, working through tasks and solving problems together, learning from others and giving support as needed, and using various communication tools and strategies that allow GRACE team members to know what others are doing and enable the team to interact together.
