The UW Alzheimer Disease Research Center has an opportunity for a Research Coordinator (NE S 6) to work on studies related to Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. This position will function under the general direction of the Research Manager and the Principal Investigator. The purpose of the position is to facilitate and implement clinical observational and clinical interventional trials. This full-time position is based at UW ADRC research offices in the Ninth and Jefferson Building on the Harborview Medical Center campus.

This position requires the ability to integrate information from multiple sources. This individual will follow all established procedures to ensure that all research meets or exceeds requirements while furthering the research objectives of the ADRC. This position will interact with a variety of populations, including faculty investigators, Center staff, clinical research subjects with varying levels of cognitive ability, family members of clinical research subjects, and associated external organizations. The position will require the use of independent judgement, problem solving skills, project and time management, and delegated authority to ensure that each of the research projects remain on deadline for successful execution of benchmarked deliverables. There are multiple resources available within the University system (e.g. Grant and Contract Services, Institutional Review Board, Office of Industry Relations) to help in this process, but ultimately, the work must be done independently and in a resourceful manner to expedite the research objectives.

The position will support the on-going research being done at the UW Medicine Memory and Brain Wellness Center (MBWC) and UW Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). These Centers house multidisciplinary teams of clinical specialists who care for patients with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other ailments that affect cognitive ability. Researchers work to advance discoveries and treatments for these disorders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Study Subject Coordination (85%)

  • Perform neuropsychometric testing and scoring for multiple participant visits on a weekly basis.

  • Complete all study related forms, including consent, data collection materials, database tracking, data corrections.

  • Document and maintain policies and procedures for patient registration and protocol implementation to ensure that research execution meets Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Review and suggest appropriate revisions, as necessary, for research instruments (e.g. case report forms, neuropsych testing measures, database tracking) to ensure quality data that satisfies research objectives.

  • Assist in scheduling appointments, ordering tests and procedures to facilitate protocol adherence, billing compliance, and to ensure accurate and reliable data collection. Assist in monitoring and administering patient protocol, interacting closely with clinical providers to ensure patient safety and protocol adherence.

  • Assist in biospecimen collection, processing, and transfer.Analysis and Reporting (10%)

  • Participate and provide participant level feedback during consensus meetings with providers, psychometrists, and other research professionals.

  • Prepare interim and annual reports for principal investigators, industry sponsors and Institutional Review Board to ensure that each project is moving toward timely completion.Other (5%)

  • Perform related duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in science or humanities. Equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement.

  • 1 year or less minimum work experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience performing and scoring neuropsychometric tests.

  • Experience working on research projects.

  • Independent and self-motivated.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work as a collaborative, cooperative, and congenial member of a close knit scholarly and administrative team, as well as work independently. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with REDCAP data management system.

  • Training and/or knowledge in ethical conduct of research with human subjects.

  • Knowledge and prior experience with working with geriatric or cognitively or neurologically impaired populations.
