The Department of HSPop has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator to provide significant support and coordination for the Health Promotion Research center (HPRC).

HPRC conducts community-based research that promotes the health and well-being of middle-aged and older adults, particularly those with lower incomes and in ethnic/cultural minority populations most at risk of health disparities. This position will support and take on coordination and research responsibilities for our community-engaged research and evaluation projects in partnership with community-based organizations that support health equity. The Research Coordinator will support activities directly through data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination via papers, presentations, and program supports, as well as project management through coordination of the internal and external teams, meetings, timelines, and deliverables.

This position requires work with a team of internal UW faculty, staff and students at HPRC and HSPop, as well as external partners from Latino health, chronic disease, public health, and social services at local community-based organizations, adults and families participating in health promotion programming, and funders supporting both program delivery and evaluation and research activities. As such, the Research Coordinator needs to communicate confidently and diplomatically with a varied group of partners at UW, HSPop, and HPRC, as well as at the local, state, and national level. The Research Coordinator must have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with HPRC and HSPop colleagues, community members, and front-line practitioners, managers, and administrators, communicating effectively both in writing and verbally.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Research development and coordination – 40%:

  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with project team, project participants, and community partners, including conference calls, emails, and meetings.

  • Coordinate and participate in the implementation of specific phases of projects, with a focus on project/program evaluation.Research materials development, data collection, analysis, and dissemination – 50%:

  • Collaborate with research team on development and testing of project materials, including recruitment, intervention, and evaluation materials; engage project partners as appropriate.

  • Support literature reviews, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods data collection, analysis, and interpretation using a range of methods, frameworks, and strategies.

  • Contribute to the dissemination of research and evaluation findings to scientific and community partners through manuscripts, presentations, and tools to support practice and policy change.Other project and center duties – 10%:

  • Participate in department and center-wide anti-racism and anti-oppression activities.

  • Complete other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor's degree in public health or a related field and one year of experience in community-based participatory research, public health OR an equivalent combination of education and training. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with qualitative data analysis and Dedoose.

  • Experience with public health communication and infographic creation using Canva.

  • Skill in balancing multiple demands simultaneously under time constraints.

  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.

  • Experience working with community organizations.

  • Excellent organizational skills including independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results.

  • Experience in community-engaged research and practice including anti-racism and health equity frameworks and approaches. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating with and coordinating a wide variety of internal and external partners.

  • Experience in project management, including the use of project management tools (Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Working knowledge of public health and community-based organizations. WORKING CONDITIONS This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in accordance with UW telework policies. In-person work is based at the UW Hans Rosling Center on a floor that is not densely populated at present as people are continuing to hybrid or telework. Employee should be able to maintain productivity with intermittent interaction. The position can be done during regular work hours and will not involve regular travel.
