The Division of Allergy & Infectious Disease has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join their team. POSITION PURPOSE The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of Principal Investigators in the Division of Allergy & Infectious Disease to coordinate activities for a CDC supported research project to evaluate the implementation of rapid syphilis point-of-care testing in outreach settings in six jurisdictions across the United States.

POSITION COMPLEXITIES The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day research activities of a multi-year, multicenter implementation study of rapid syphilis point-of-care testing to address the syphilis epidemic among heterosexuals in the United States. The Research Coordinator will coordinate meetings, communications, data collection and management across six jurisdictions, interacting regularly with staff from each study site. Additionally, the Research Coordinator will work with a local research team to support the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and the dissemination of research findings.

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Disease, headed by Anna Wald, MD, MPH is one of the premier centers for biomedical, behavioral, and public health research in STI and HIV.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Research Study Operations (60%):

  • Manage and coordinate research activities across multiple research partners to ensure alignment with scope, timelines, and budget.

  • Draft standard operating procedures.

  • Coordinate, schedule, and participate in research team meetings.

  • Develop agendas, take meeting minutes, and track action items for research team meetings.

  • Collaborate with the study team on the development of research materials and forms, including intervention materials, data collection instruments, and other assessment materials.

  • Create and maintain necessary documentation to facilitate regulatory approvals which may include but not be limited to preparation and submission of IRB applications, IRB modification requests, and annual IRB renewal paperwork.

  • Monitor the progress of research activities for compliance with IRB and CDC (study sponsor) requirements.

  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, scientific abstracts, and manuscripts to disseminate project findings.

  • Assist with drafting and submission of progress reports to CDC, the study sponsor.Data management (30%):

  • Assist with design and creation of quantitative and qualitative research instruments to ensure that data collected are consistent and correlate with research objectives.

  • Develop and use data management systems (such as REDCap or other databases) to collect and manage data from multiple participating study sites.

  • Coordinate receipt and transfer of site-specific data to overarching project data coordinating center.

  • Perform data quality control checks.External communications and collaboration with research partners (10%):

  • Coordinate, schedule, and participate in all virtual meetings with external partners.

  • Develop agendas, take meeting minutes, and track action items for meetings with external partners.

  • Coordinate, schedule in-person site visits.

  • Travel to sites for in-person site visits.

  • Collaborate with all key partners and research team members: maintain open, timely, and accurate communication with external partners about developments, changes, and/or new directions and deliverables.

  • Ongoing communication of research priorities, goals, and resources with external partners MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a science related field. Equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement.

  • At least two years of related experience Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS ?

  • Excellent organizational skills, including independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results

  • Strong project and time management skills

  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, study protocols

  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently as part of a team with limited supervision

  • Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating and coordinating with a variety of partners and people from diverse backgrounds

  • Experience developing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposal and modification requests

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology or related field

  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research, data collection, and data management

  • Skills in REDCap or other software for data capture, organization, and management WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Collaborative work environment focused on problem-solving, innovation, and service to partner public health agencies.

  • General working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
