Somewhere along the way he realized he could both fix the gear problem and devote his life to pursuing his passion for adventure. By the end, he knew one thing for sure: He wasn't going back to his old job.

Ron Gregg built Outdoor Research on the idea that life is an adventure, and the best gear makes it more fun. Though he died tragically in an avalanche more than a decade ago, his legacy remains at our core. In our world, it's not about chasing heroes; It's about being on the journey. It's not how often we get out as much as how often we want to be out that makes us who we are. Quality Specialist


About this role

We are looking for a Quality Specialist who will be responsible for the maintenance of and assistance with quality equipment and processes within our new Medical Mask factory. You will ensure that quality equipment is maintained, catalogued correctly, and up to date. Assisting with quality testing requests and requirements, that they are being done correctly and in a timely manner. You will work with the quality team, quality engineer and other OR PPE team members to drive continuous improvement in process, quality, safety, and cost. You will be focusing on inward facing quality concerns and accurate data acquisition.

What you will do

  • Maintain, catalogue and service Quality test equipment and calibrated/noncalibrated devices maintaining traceability and identifications

  • Act to ensure that testing requirements from receiving and engineering, is organized, completed, and communicated back to the appropriate parties in a timely manner

  • Gathering, communicating, and assisting with maintaining Environmental control requirements

  • Assist in Inward Facing Quality Concerns, Complaints, and Investigations

  • Write and maintain quality documents, such as Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and processes in your areas of concern

  • Identify trends and areas of improvement within the department, suggesting improvements

  • Assist in the following corrective and preventative action (CAPA) activities and solutions, supplier corrective action requests, internal and external Audits

  • Cross train with QC techs to better understand their rolls, the tools used, and assisting as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

What you should bring to the table

  • Experience in a Quality Assurance environment preferred

  • Experience in an FDA regulated production environment a plus

  • Strong mechanical, electrical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to simplify data for production, quality, engineers, sourcing team, and management alike

  • Proven ability to use tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Flow Charts to streamline communication

  • Post-Secondary Education in the following engineering, metrology, quality

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production work environment

  • Ability to partner across the organization at all levels

  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and independently prioritize

  • Ability to positively influence peers and leaders

  • Ability to work in a multilingual environment

  • Self-motivated and directed.
