We are a custom food processor, and our customers require good manufacturing and sanitation practices along with great attention to detail. This is a Seattle based position.
About You
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Assistant to join our team. This position will support our efforts ensuring compliance with food safety standards by performing plant inspections, reviewing HACCP documents, and conducting environmental testing in our facility. What Will Be Expected
This is a fast-paced job that requires you to stand and work in a cold and wet environment. The temperature inside of the processing area may vary in range and can be as low as 40 degrees.
Work Schedule
We need people who can meet the attendance requirements which may include weekend work and overtime. You must be willing and able to work extended hours and weekends, in peak periods, as needed.
Candidates must be able to work between the below hours.
1st Shift: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Hours can extend past these times and workers are expected to work until the job is finished.
Required Experience:
Job Duties
Conduct daily pre-op and plant inspection review.
Review QC verification for each line to confirm correct product, label, and ingredients are being used for production.
Assist with regular inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
Review daily HACCP documents and follow up on outstanding issues.
Assure all HACCP documents are completed and signed off by the set deadline.
Perform routine micro tests on food processing equipment, raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, as needed.
Conduct environmental monitoring tests to detect contamination in the production facility on a regular schedule.
Schedule 3rd party validation testing.
Ensure that all inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
Provide support to QC Inspectors, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
HACCP Certification a plus
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English (Basic Level)
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
Basic understanding of quality control principles and practices
Ability to use equipment and instruments effectively
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Basic knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand constantly; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb stairs. The employee must regularly lift and or move between 25-50 lbs. and occasionally lift between 50-75 lbs. Some positions may require heavier lifting.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
