Duties: Supports emerging technology development, demonstration and deployment, codes and standards, research and development and market research and evaluation. Provides technical analysis and project management services for research projects involving emerging technologies and solutions such as building decarbonization or electrification, Zero Net Energy new construction, and deep energy retrofits for existing buildings. Performs energy analysis, provides design assistance and design reviews. Develops and reviews calculations used to estimate savings, carbon emissions reductions, and other benefits of emerging technologies and green building solutions. Manages field demonstrations of emerging technologies, including construction administration, field monitoring, data collection, and technology commissioning. Remains informed of energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations. Assists with market research to develop \"tech to market'\" pathways for emerging technologies. Conducts technical analysis in support of developing policy solutions such as building energy codes and local ordinances with associated stakeholder outreach and engagement. Assists in the development of technical standards, protocols, and requirements for innovative energy efficiency and green building programs. Manages multiple projects simultaneously and meets deadlines and client expectations. Conducts meetings and presentations. Translates results into actionable recommendations. Communicates research results graphically and through written reports.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Master\'s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 3 years of experience as a Project Manager II OR performing building energy efficiency, load management or electrification technology development, demonstration or deployment
Or in the alternative:
Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years of experience as a Project Manager II OR performing building energy efficiency, load management or electrification technology development, demonstration or deployment
Required Skills:

(1) Demonstrated expertise (DE) performing technical market research related to energy efficiency or low-carbon building strategies;
(2) DE performing or researching the following areas: HVAC engineering, domestic hot water system engineering, distributed energy resources engineering, and building envelope engineering;
(3) DE performing building energy modeling using CBECC-Res, CBECC-Com, CSE, DesignBuilder, eQuest, EnergyPlus, or OpenStudio; and, setting up parametric energy analysis frameworks in energy modeling software to perform batch processing of bulk energy models;
(4) DE developing scripts for data analytics using Python; automating comprehen
