Summary: The Project Executive plays a key role in overseeing and managing complex construction projects from inception to completion. Responsibilities involve planning, executing, and delivering construction projects while ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations; overseeing budgets, schedules, and quality control processes; managing client relationships and contractual obligations; mitigating risks; mentoring staff; and promoting safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Salary Range: $60 - $85 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing and pursue new clients for JH Kelly Seattle SPG

  • Prepare project estimates and proposals for new opportunities and RFPs

  • Lead project teams in planning, executing, and delivering construction projects. Ensure alignment with company goals and client expectations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring effective communication and fostering strong, long-term relationships.

  • Oversee project budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure financial targets are met. Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Ensure timely completion of project milestones and address any potential delays proactively.

  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes. Ensure all work complies with company standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Resolve issues promptly to minimize the impact on project timelines and budgets.

  • Manage and mentor project managers, engineers, and other project staff. Promote a collaborative and productive team environment.

  • Oversee contract administration, including negotiations, compliance, and modifications. Ensure all contractual obligations are met.

  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders. Prepare and present detailed reports on project status, financial performance, and other key metrics.

  • Promote and enforce strict adherence to health and safety protocols. Ensure all project activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.

    Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.

  • Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Trade School, or a construction industry-related field.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP).

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.

  • Experience in customer relations, sales, and business development.

  • Experience in mechanical and plumbing system estimating.

  • Expertise in all responsibilities of a project, demonstrating proficiency and mastery with consistently positive results and growth:

  • Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects.

  • Establishing scheduling baselines, assessing impact claims, and negotiating soft subjects.

  • Conducting risk assessment and communication (both internal and external).

  • Managing billings, forecasting, and resource management.

  • Consistently producing profits greater than the bid margin.

  • Developing repeat business with customers and clients.

  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam, with intermediate skills in Excel

  • Expert in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred.

  • Expert knowledge in project management, construction management, construction contracts, quality assurance/quality control, and safety.

    Necessary Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in project management software and tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

  • Financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

    Physical Requirements:

    Physical requirements for this role include the ability to transition frequently between an office and a construction field setting. In the office, the individual must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse, and communicating by telephone. In the field, the individual must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven terrain, and climbing stairs as required. The role also necessitates the ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to view/inspect tight spaces, as well as occasionally lifting 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and communicating on-site. The individual must adhere to the site-specific dress code and comply with safety requirements by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours when necessary is also required.
