Amazon Program Manager Instock, Direct Import, Global Purchasing Program in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon is looking for a smart, motivated, and self-driven Program Manager to join our Global Purchasing Program to run complex and cross functional and multi country projects. This role is a part of the centralized Global Purchasing business function at Amazon Exports and Expansion. The role will lead new business initiatives and will drive high impact projects to improve the experience for our Vendors and Vendor Managers to help us delight our customers. These projects will typically involve applying supply chain improvements to our unique use cases, driving large cost reduction or efficiency improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will excel in dealing with ambiguity, inventing new solutions while drawing a line to scalable process improvement, analytics, written/verbal communication and be customer obsessed. The candidate will have proven experience delivering results by partnering with others and be comfortable leading and contributing across a range of topics with international stakeholders.

Global Purchasing is a strategic initiative for Amazon with long-term business impact and triple digit growth YoY. The successful candidate is an innovator, communicator, influencer and problem solver who works well in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting. This candidate demonstrates a strong technical skillset, taking data-driven approach to solve complex business problems. The position provides opportunities to influence high visibility/impact areas throughout the organization.

The successful candidate possesses superb business judgment, with a track record of strong project delivery and relationship management, deep analytical acumen, with experience generating and managing forecasts, reports, and analyses. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a fast paced, highly demanding and often ambiguous environment.

Key job responsibilities

1) They will be responsible for working with Vendor Managers, finance, supply chain execution, transportation, compliance, Global Logistics and other Amazon teams to identify pain points and scope out large high impact projects

2) They will be responsible for driving cost benefit analysis and go/no-go decisions on various initiatives

3) Once a go decision is made, the program manager will work to evolve a plan and timeline for execution.

4) The program manager will develop a roadmap and metrics to measure progress of the initiative they own. They will also own writing reports/documents that detail the progress to leadership on a frequent basis

5) They will liaise across functions to drive their project and help clear issues and bottlenecks.

A day in the life

Program Managers will lead and be measured on the impact of their project. Depending on the project, clear financial or other impact goals will be set forth. It is the program manager's responsibility to ensure they drive the program towards achieving those goals.

About the team

Global Purchasing works with countries to buy directly from origin, consolidate/de-consolidate and import. Our vision is to supply customers in the world with the best selection and price. We are a fairly new business that is still growing and inventing.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Ability to prioritize in a highly ambiguous global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • Experience with Import/export logistics

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
