The National Institutes of Health (NIH) established the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) in 1991 to address the most common causes of death, disability and impaired quality of life in postmenopausal women. The WHI is one of the largest U.S. prevention studies of its kind and it is currently moving into its third extension. The WHI Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC), located at Fred Hutchinson, is responsible for study implementation and coordination of statistical, epidemiologic, nutritional and clinical aspects of the WHI and is responsible for data collection, management and analysis.
The Program Assistant I works independently and in collaboration with other WHI Coordinating Center staff to assist in accomplishing the study goals. The primary focus of the position is to scan or key-enter participant surveys and other data into the study database and assemble participant survey mailings. This position is scheduled Monday through Thursday (20 hours per week), regular daytime hours, and is fully onsite at our Seattle, Washington campus. There is no remote work associated with this position.
This position is with the Women’s Health Initiative Extension Study. It is located in the WHI Clinical Coordinating Center and reports to the Manager of Data Operations and Mailing Services.
Duties include:
Scanning of study survey forms using an optical imaging mark-sense scanner.
Key-entry of non-scannable study forms and materials.
Assist with assembly of mailings to participants.
Trouble-shooting data entry problems and routing them to the correct staff person.
Managing storage and/or disposal of study survey forms and other participant materials.
Assist with opening and sorting mail.
Support activities in a tumor tissue bio-repository.
Perform general clerical duties such as typing of correspondence and maintaining logs of voicemail messages.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Must be reliable and have excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written), including receptive communication skills such as active listening.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and also as part of a team.
Able to balance competing and shifting priorities.
Demonstrated computer skills with basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Minimum 6 months experience in a research or office setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS degree
Minimum 12 months experience in a research or office setting.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.53 to $29.23 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
