We are hiring a Principal UX Designer for Smart Home to oversee the continuity and cohesion of the Smart Home customer experience across user experience surfaces, modalities, and devices. This leader will be adept at influencing both product and business strategy across organizations and levels, looking into the future to anticipate critical trade-offs and decisions, and coaching designers, product managers and engineers across their team.

Key job responsibilities

The Principal UX Designer will work across design, product, and engineering teams, spanning multiple VP-level organizations, to steer customer experience, ensure consistency, establish patterns, and, looking around corners, plan for future product evolution. They will need to influence at the Director, VP, and SVP level, act as a thought-leader on the product and customer experience for Smart Home, and independently navigate highly complex problem spaces.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of design experience

• Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design

• Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data

• Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
