Schneider Electric USA, Inc Principal Systems Engineer – Power Conversion, Solar|Storage|EV Charging - 60126 in Seattle, Washington

We are currently seeking a Principal Power Converter Systems Engineer, with a strong background in the Application of Power Converters in different systems and their interactions to join the Schneider Electric Solar + Storage Systems team. In this role the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for cross functionally defining what a product will do, communicating product needs to all business & engineering stakeholders, ensuring Power Converters' implementation meets overall system/product requirements needs, analyzing converter interactions in electrical and communication domain and performing hands-on verification & validation testing. In addition, the successful candidate shall take a leading stance in the technical development of the product throughout its entire development lifecycle. The role will require you to undertake technical work individually, or as part of a project team and to take responsibility for managing your delivery to agreed timescales. Responsibilities

  • Requirements Analyst: Forms strong relationships with all parts of the system design team: marketing, electrical HW, Control, firmware, mechanical, service, compliance, quality, reliability, and manufacturing. Works with the project team to understand system-level requirements and translate them into specific functional requirements for different subsystems. Creates and maintains system functional requirements documentation.
  • First level Design: Work with product, compliance, and firmware/hardware team to define new power and energy control architectures. This will require a deep understanding of Power Converters' operation, their applications, and constraints.
  • System/Functional Tests: Works with system-level design verification & validation test (DVT) team to develop an appropriate system-level test plan for all system features. Creates and maintains high-level validation plan, validation tests and traces between requirements Work with DVT and electrical design teams to ensure test coverage is assured "as far upstream" in the test environments as possible.
  • Issue Management: Actively participates, facilitates, and helps to manage the maintenance, prioritization, and issue life cycle related to the Systems Electrical Engineer's area of focus, particularly cross-functional activities involving problem-solving.
  • Documentation: Support the technical documentation team in the preparation and review of product manuals, application notes, installation/commissioning manuals and service documentation.
  • Continuous improvement: Provides input and support driving forward the continuous improvement of cross-functional practices and methods.
  • Troubleshooting: Hands-on coordinating or directly troubleshooting system/sub-system level challenges/issues that arise from integration/verification & validation testing.

``` - Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics, and its application in Systems

``` - 5+ years of proven experience in a cross functional engineering role / systems engineering. - Demonstrated product development experience using standard systems-engineering practices spanning concept through production including certification and testing Strong systems engineering fundamentals - Preferred experience with renewable energies such as Solar, Energy Storage and Wind and utility grid interactions.
