Description
The Amazon Device and Services Design Group (DDG) creates revolutionary products used by millions of customers worldwide, including Fire TV, Fire Tablet, and the Alexa family of devices and endpoints. Our DDG Research team is a driving force behind informed product decisions, integrating mixed-methods research and analytics throughout the entire product development lifecycle. We're seeking an exceptional Principal Quantitative Researcher to transform complex data into actionable insights that shape the future of our products. This role sits at the intersection of statistical rigor and human-centered design, directly influencing product strategy and customer experience (CX).
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with product and design teams to identify the most important research questions to answer
Build, communicate, and maintain research roadmaps
Design and conduct quantitative research to inform and evaluate product and CX investments
Apply methods including surveys, A/B tests, statistical modeling, mixed-method studies, or other approaches (existing or invented) that you determine to be most effective
Synthesize multiple data sources into actionable insights
Triangulate survey insights with engagement metrics in partnership with business intelligence
Build mechanisms for regularly communicating insights leveraging strong writing and data visualization skills
Influence decision-makers at all levels to act on insights, driving customer delight and business objectives

Basic Qualifications
PhD or MS in statistics, experimental or social psychology or a related discipline
10+ yrs industry experience leading quantitative research
2+ years leading research that informs digital product design
Expert-level knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental methods
Demonstrated mastery of statistical modeling and hypothesis testing
Strong skill with R, Python, or similar languages
Proficiency with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
Experience with survey sampling strategies and weighting techniques to ensure representative results
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of successful collaboration with qualitative researchers (e.g., ethnographers, human factors specialists)
Experience mentoring other researchers and driving team excellence
Experience with generative AI and its applications in research

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $163,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $269,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
