Summary
This position is for an experienced and innovative Principal Mechanical FEA Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in applying FEA design and lab validation to the development of electronic packages, including AI accelerators/microprocessors, printed circuit boards, sheet metal, polymer components and hardware. Specializing in transient, nonlinear simulations of large, complex assemblies with tools like ANSYS and LS-DYNA. As a member of the Customer Experience team, you will engage in deeper technical dialog and trade-off
analysis with customers, key suppliers and engaging with the ME team on design structure and direction. Additionally, the candidate should have a working knowledge of the interdependencies from other design disciplines such as compute, connectivity, management, power, and cooling subsystems that impact good mechanical design FEA practices.
Detailed Description
Play a critical role in developing highly reliable, cost optimized systems across all platforms in CLS using transient LS-Dyna models to improve shock and vibration response in both shipping and operational environments
Ensured cost effective and reliable microprocessor/accelerator designs for Celestica’s new AI solutions/Storage and Switches, by performing nonlinear finite element analysis of thermal stress and LGA actuation using ANSYS Mechanical.
Validated FEA models and product reliability by performing hands-on strain gauge and accelerometer testing, high-speed data acquisition and in-depth data analysis on electronic packages during shock and vibration testing.
Performed critical FEA modeling for new AI solutions under development and validating new material models and modeling techniques for cryogenic and room-temperature components, while integrating Six Sigma statistical approaches to optimize design accuracy.
Provide effective mechanical FEA analysis and trade-offs and competitive guidance to engineering teams and customers
Led the Celestica FEA team, optimizing workloads, standardizing modeling practices, and facilitating cross-team collaboration with FEA groups across the organization.
Work with the RFQ team on Celestica platforms for L10/L11 on Designs and Solutions. Showing our FEA capabilities and design quality to customers
Act as a primary technical SME on FEA with customers on related mechanical topics, concepts, trade-offs, and proposals.
Identify and resolve cross-functional and cross-discipline architectural issues ● Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.
Prepare test plans, reports, and technical documentation of project work assigned.
Perform instrumentation planning and test conduct of all Environmental Tests including vibration, mechanical shock, and structural testing
Knowledge of signal processing, data acquisition, field test instrumentation, and structural testing
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Experience with liquid cooling systems, modular chassis and cabled designs
Experience with high volume production and high reliability and serviceable products
Experience in mechanical design in a multi-disciplinary environment, and multiple type of product development cycles
Good knowledge in material property, manufacturing process, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, skills to perform kinematics analysis is a plus
Good knowledge in sheet metal tooling, plastic tooling and die casting tooling.
Good knowledge in industrial standards and system level environmental compliance
Good experience on optical module application is a plus.
Good skills with the use of CAD design tools, Pro/Engineer is must
Good skills in Microsoft office software
Good team work attitude, collaboration and communication skills
Business travel possible (include the oversea travel)
Typical Experience
- Min. 10+ years of direct working experiences in electronic product mechanical design, related to AIcompute / networking / rack level product design experience is a MUST.
Typical Education
- Bachelor or master degree in mechanical FEA engineering

Location: This is a remote position, with travel as necessary.
