The UW Medical Center - Northwest Pharmacy Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Pharmacist Intern . The Pharmacist Intern performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks in the inpatient pharmacy. Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacist Intern independently performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions, such as compounding medications, filling medication orders, and preparing compounded sterile products.

This position is open to UW School of Pharmacy Students only. WORK SCHEDULE • Per Diem • Rotating/Variable Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine's Pharmacy Department provides high-quality and comprehensive pharmacy services to our patients and providers. Our team of specially trained pharmacists and technicians work closely with doctors and nurses to ensure our patients receive the best medication therapy for their condition.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain repackaging records. • Load drawers for the PYXIS and unit dose medication distribution system. • Deliver medications. • Package medications into single-unit packages. • Restock and pull outdates off shelves in the pharmacy. • Maintain the stock levels of ward stock on the nursing units. • Prepare pharmaceutical solutions for external use.

REQUIREMENTS: Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
