Nordstrom Payroll Analyst in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

The ideal Payroll Analyst is enthusiastic about analyzing payroll processes, identifying opportunities, and shaping recommendations for optimization. The ideal candidate will ensure that payroll processes are implemented effectively and consistently with our teams. This position is also responsible for assisting with the coordination of all off cycle, quarter and year end payroll processing, as well as all multi-state payroll entries and reconciliations.

A day in the life…

  • Assess, refine and implement enhancement payroll processes and tools

  • Participate in conversations with relevant stakeholders to drive payroll projects and issue resolutions

  • Drive process adoption, track KPIs, and provide recommendations based on analysis

  • Offer strategic guidance to business teams on how to best leverage our tools

  • Lead per pay period, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting accurately on on-time

  • Works with vendors and HCM partners to assure employee level data rolls-up accurately for filings, financial transactions, and general ledger accounting

  • Provides training and guidance on topics to the Payroll team regarding in-depth relevant topics

  • Ability to identify complex situations and demonstrate curiosity to investigate

You own this if you have…

  • Associates degree in business admin or accounting strongly preferred. CPP certification preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Payroll/HRIS systems (Workday preferred)

  • 2-5 years of analyst experience including 2 years or more of multi-state payroll or equivalent in the areas of customer service, payroll, human resources, benefits administration, financial institutions, application support, or other relevant work experiences.

  • Working knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, wage and hour law, and human resources systems required.

  • Excellent customer service skills, organization, time-management, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies

  • Proficiency with database queries and data analysis
