UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST LEAD .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE, Days

  • Scheduled Days: Monday - Thursday and Sunday

  • 6:00 am - 2:30 pm POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Serves as the primary resource for the direction, orientation and training of the Patient Services Specialists (PSS) positions within the admitting department.

  • Responsible for assigning instructing and auditing the work of the PSS staff and providing feedback to the Supervisor. The PSS Lead will be responsible for the patient flow at the front desk, and provide patient-focused care through use of customer service strategies

  • Interact with patients, families, and nursing and medical staff to ensure that patients are identified correctly registered and roomed accurately as they enter the medical center. Ensuring that the correct corresponding demographic, financial information and appropriate signed financial agreements and consents for treatment are obtained

  • Verify insurance coverage; verify third party payers; coordinating patient care with other departments and outside hospitals and referring patients to Financial Counseling as necessary PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support services such as obtaining and verifying demographic and financial information through pre-registration process, completing patient registration by obtaining consent for medical care and financial agreement, and processing patient paperwork and coordinating care with other services

  • Triage patient telephone calls to clinical staff, providing information about services and interacting with patients, families, nursing, and medical staff to ensure that patients are identified correctly and registered and admitted accurately as they enter the medical center

  • Access computer systems to obtain patient data and to perform clerical functions. Find and enter new patients in the Epic ADT electronic record system.Schedule and/or submit request for interpreters for patients

  • Reception and discharge activities, check in patients, obtain and verify registration information, schedule appointments

  • Coordinate care with other services

  • Complete and enter Medicare as Secondary Payer online

  • Coordinate referral process and medical records

  • Collect time-of-service payments

  • May float and have lead responsibilities between other areas including registration, and patient care areas. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS High School graduation or equivalent AND three years of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience OR equivalent education/experience.
