Harborview Medical Center's Radiology Administration has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Lead (Full-Time, Day Shifts).

The PSS Lead reports to Patient Care Coordinator Supervisor. Using the order entry system, PSS Lead is responsible for generating orders for radiology exams. PSS Lead will also schedule outpatient & inpatient procedures. These include: Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Angiography, & Nuclear Medicine. They are also responsible in maintaining accurate departmental billing. Independently provide support services, coordinate care with other services, and provide information about services. They are also known as experts in scheduling for each modality.

STANDARDS OF DAILY PRACTICE: • Resolve problems that arise daily within the unit during assigned shift. Evaluate accuracy and productivity of Patient Service Specialists. • Assign, train, and represent supervisor during her absence. • Provide feedback to supervisor for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans and training plans. • Coordinate coverage for shift assigned about staffing involving call-in sick and emergency vacation. Assume duties of others, especially when we are understaffed. • Perform the work of Patient Services Specialists 1, 2, and 3. • Participate in interviewing applicants and attends meeting internally and externally. • Understand and adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals and described yearly by the Joint Commission. • The above reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.


Professional Accountability: • Demonstrates awareness of and functions within Radiology policies, procedures and guidelines • Seeks consultation when patient care needs exceed own level of experience. • Demonstrates awareness of and functions within safety, infection control, during emergency and equipment guidelines. • Meets attendance standards. • Consistently completes timesheet requirements. • Ensures HIPAA Standards. • Ensures competencies are understood for each modality. • Consistently wears identification badge as per hospital policy. • Is responsible for remaining current with information disseminated through email, voice mail, memos and posted notices.

Advocacy and Humanistic Care: • Treats all patients with respect and dignity • Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure. • Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care. • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

Communication and Team Building: • Proven interpersonal and communication skills required to promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, radiologists, and other medical center personnel. • Forms productive working relationships with co-workers. Communicates clearly, directly, and on a timely basis. • Is open to direction, asks for assistance when needed, Provides staff with dignity & respect. • Maintains a professional manner at work.

Administrative Duties: • Resolves problems daily affecting patient flow, paper flow, interpreters, referrals and act as a resource for other staff in Radiology. • Gather and report on data, identified by CPT codes, to assist departmental administrators track progress. • Maintain a system of organization in the scheduling office. • Contact person for Radiology • Provide adequate training to PSS staff regarding new procedures and changes • Acts as a transcriptions / updating transcription documents • Attend meetings as needed.

Safety/Response to Emergencies: • Understands and complies with all safety, fire, disaster, evacuation, and chemical safety procedure: review's departmental policy and procedure manual annually

Quality Assessment and Improvement: • Reviews and QC own work and the work of PSS2, & PSS3. • Participates in and supports quality assessment and improvement activities. • Participates in the Department QA and QC functions by assisting in the collection of data, and making recommendations as to problems and possible solutions.
