  • Showcase your excellent customer service, conflict resolution and communication skills DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The role of the Patient Relations Department is to support the University of Washington Medical Center to provide the best possible experience for patients and their families. When this does not happen, UWMC Patient Relations will assist UWMC staff to provide service recovery. If a patient feels that their concerns are not adequately resolved at the point of service, or if a formal complaint is shared with our department, UWMC Patient Relations will consult with providers and staff to review and facilitate complaint resolution.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the UWMC Patient Relations Department (UWMC Montlake and UWMC Northwest facilities)

  • Investigate and evaluate patient’s concerns with appropriate administrative and clinical personnel

  • Document and report results of interviews and actions taken to address information received from patients and visitors

  • Ensure timely written response to all formal customer service quality of care reviews to maintain compliance with hospital, state and regulatory agencyguidelines and as directed by the Patient Relations Manager

  • Facilitate the provision of service recovery tools to staff and documents provision and usage

  • Interprets hospital’s policies, procedures, and services to patients, patient representatives, and inter/intra-hospital departments

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the completion of meeting deliverables and responding to complaints from patients or their family members

  • Serve as a positive representative of UW Medical Center and its campuses REQUIRMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, healthcare administration, or other related field.

  • Three to four years of professional patient relations experience involving responsibility in administrative, professional, and patient contact

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working with patients and their families in challenging situations

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated resiliency and emotional intelligence to remain calm in stressful moments and to appropriately escalate to hospital administration as needed
