As the Partner Architect your primary focus is aimed at working with our strategic ecosystem partners to build solutions that amplify the value of our SASE platform. Collaborating with the entire partner ecosystem to identify, develop, accelerate, up-sell and close transactions is critical. Without you and the work of your partners, the money doesn’t flow in! You will help in defining compelling and competitively differentiated capabilities, understanding our market and customers deeply, and collaborating with engineers and other Product Managers to identify new investment opportunities. The team is a fast-paced, startup-like environment where you will have the opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up while developing skills in cutting-edge technologies. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 3-6 months you will work toward completing?

  • The primary objective of this position is to help our strategic partners build practices around VMware SD-WAN and SASE technologies.

  • Within 30 days, become competent with VMware's SASE messaging and solutions. You should be able to describe the use cases and the technologies that make up the solution. You should have a solid understanding of our partner ecosystem, resources, contacts and existing programs.

  • Within 60 days, develop relationships with our partner ecosystem as a trusted advisor and assist in leading and handling the technical agenda. This will include assisting in running initial product/solution proof-of-concepts and pilots.

  • Within 90 days you will begin working with designated partners to identify key stakeholders and establish relationships. Begin assisting partners in driving technical closure for new service creation opportunities with existing and new strategic partners

  • Within 180 days you will become the trusted advisor to the partners. You will be able to capture and promote successful partner deployments. Fully understand the partner's ecosystem and begin helping our partners build market differentiated solution offerings.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Build effective business relationships with partner managers, marketplace leads, and business development managers.

  • Be the voice of our strategic partners internally at VMware, engaging and influencing VMware’s Product and Engineering teams to meet your partner and customer needs

Key Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience as a system engineer, solutions architect, or systems integrator

  • 5+ years of experience supporting or deploying WAN technologies, data centers networking, and network security in the enterprise production network

  • 5+ years of practical experience of routing design and implementation using OSPF and BGP

  • Programming experience in a higher-level language such as YAML, JSON, and/or Python

  • 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. Cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking)

  • Demonstrated experience deploying SD-WAN and/or SASE technology

  • Proficiency with cloud networking models and connectivity, network security, virtualization, and cloud computing

  • Experience presenting to medium sized audiences

  • Ability to travel

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Ability to think and act strategically and proactive

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or 5+ years’ work experience in a relevant technical role

  • 10+ years’ experience in Networking and cloud related areas highly desirable

  • Exceptional communication and listening skills, ability to quickly build rapport, establish trust and credibility with VMware clients and partners

  • Ability to manage multiple parallel projects, ensure on-time delivery, and report progress and status to executives.

  • Network Industry Certification such as CCIE or equivalent

  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional or equivalent

The hiring manager for this role is Joseph Chung, Sr. Director of Strategic Partnerships - SEBU. Joseph Chung is responsible for driving and accelerating sales strategy to execution for VMware’s top hyperscaler partners. Joseph previously held sales leadership roles managing AT&T Global and Asia Pacific sales teams. Prior to joining VMware, Joseph was Asia Pacific Regional Vice President for VeloCloud. Our team works remotely and is distributed across the United States. The team culture is one of respect, continuous learning, and collaboration.

Where is this role located?

Remote: The location of this role is flexible within the United States and the team operates on a remote-first basis. There may be opportunities to meet other team members in person depending on timing and location. You can elect to work out of a VMware office location if there is one in your city and that is your preference.
