Akin Part- Time Childcare Coordinator in Seattle, Washington

*This position is 20 hours per week from May to September 2024*

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating childcare for an Akin Family Resource/Support Center. Helps in the recruiting process; gives work direction and leads Childcare Workers who care for multicultural, varied-age children at either a drop-in childcare center or for parenting classes and support groups. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Takes the lead on interviewing job candidates and selecting employee for childcare positions
  • Provides on the job training to new childcare providers
  • May facilitate Play and Learn groups and supervise other employee that assist
  • May co-lead family field trips and other activities
  • May purchase food, snacks, and craft materials for childcare program
  • May assist in front desk duties, as needed
  • May assist with database entries
  • May assist with community outreach and community events
  • Works on special projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This job is performed in a professional office environment. The following list is representative of the work environment employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

WORKING REMOTELY:

Working remotely is a benefit of Akin's flexible workplace, but remote work cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Remote work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years' childcare experience
  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Dependable transportation
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives clients. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years

     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Some Early Childhood education desirable
