Job Description: Perkins Coie is looking for a dynamic, qualified individual to assist lawyers with document and information management, factual and legal analysis, discovery and trial support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Assist lawyers with all phases of case support, including document/information management, factual and legal research and analysis, discovery, briefings, hearings, citation checking, and trial support. Maintain positive contact with clients, lawyers, and staff, and observe confidentiality of client matters. Possess an understanding of protective orders and e-discovery orders/stipulations to ensure all procedures are met per client and mandated instructions. Train and coordinate workloads of subordinate paralegal assistants as needed. Keep track of case/matter deadlines and interface with partners on case teams regularly to ensure deadlines are being met. Perform computer database input and retrieval with an emphasis on proficiency with e-discovery platforms, including, but not limited to, Concordance and Relativity. A thorough knowledge of the e-discovery process and understanding of each phase is necessary to instruct and advise on an e-discovery litigation plan from early case assessment though the production phase. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Thorough knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures. Demonstrated skills in document/information management. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with firm lawyers and staff, client personnel, and other professionals. Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Sound knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures. Ability to handle multiple tasks, multiple concurrent deadlines, and work well under pressure and independently. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to exercise discretion and independent judgment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree and at least seven years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certificate preferred. Experience with litigation court procedures in state tax courts a plus. Experience with automated litigation support software required.
