Packaging Inserter -- Part time
Job Summary
This position acts as a customer service representative, interfacing with customers on delivery. Inserters also prepare newspapers for delivery by inserting sections, labeling, and strapping bundles. Occasionally relieves press team by acting as supplemental member, stacking papers, etc. Experience in the print industry helpful but not required! We are always willing to train motivated individuals.
*Duties and Responsibilities *
- Assist in sorting and labeling newspapers for mailing.
- Prepare shipments for customer delivery via courier or shipping carrier.
- Hand-insert flyers or sections into newspapers quickly and accurately.
- Ensure inserted product is appropriately jogged, placed in the correct orientation and strapped in appropriate/requested quantities.
- Stage completed jobs for load-out.
- Operate manual and electric pallets jacks and lift jacks.
- Forklift Certification/Experience a plus.
- Responsible for creating/updating inventory reports of department supplies
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Detail oriented, committed, and willing to learn.
- Must have ability to take written and/or verbal direction.
- Must wear proper safety wear in pressroom including appropriate hearing and foot protection.
- Team player with a good attitude
Working Conditions
Pressroom -- high noise, moving machinery. Area is subject to varying temperatures. Concrete floors.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs & ladders, reach, kneel & stoop, and be able to lift 50lbs. Must have high visual acuity with or without corrective lenses.
Work Schedule
Variable, 15-30 hours per week. The general schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30AM to Noon, and Fridays 5AM to 10AM. Due to the nature of this position, hours will vary depending on workload and may require coming in early, staying late, or (rarely) working weekends. It is critical that the person in this position be reliable/have reliable transportation.
