DescriptionBrown and Caldwell is looking for an Operations Controller to assist the Senior Director of FandA in managing the Operations Accounting function of our profitable and growing company. The Operations Controller will actively optimize financial performance, mitigate risks and ensure the integrity of financial reporting in direct, business development and overhead projects in operations.Detailed Description:Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Controller in our growth-orientedengineering, environmental consulting, and construction firm.We are looking for an individual who thrives in dynamic work environments, and whose passion for leadership builds on the success of a high-performing team. You will be a Director and integral member of the Finance and Administration (FandA) management team and will orchestrate the accounting function within operations. Your direct reports will be the senior-level Regional Controllers located throughout the United States. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting and has a dotted-line report to the SVP, Director of Operations.*This role will primarily work virtually and can be filled near any BC office, preferenceofDenver, CO. There may be in-person interaction and travel once it is safe to do so. No relocation provided. Responsibilities:Be a trusted partner to the Director of Ops and Business Unit/Enterprise Managers.Ensure integrity of monthly operations financial statements by verifying that revenue and cost recognition is in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies, including but not limited to timely and accurate earned value and estimates at completion on direct projects.Analyze financial health of the direct project portfolio, escalate concerns, and participate as financial partner in strategic and high-impact project reviews.Evaluate and propose reserves to properly account for known project risks.Monitor project overruns for root causes and collaborate with the PMO to improve results.Share insights on company performance with FandA leaders and the Director of Operations. Recommend changes to improve financial performance.Assist with responding to audit requests and questions during the annual fiscal year financial statement audit.Actively participate in business performance meetings with company and operations leaders.Manage budget and forecast function for operations business and enterprise units. Support and challenge Regional Controllers in their processes, assumptions, and results.Mentor and enable the Billing Manager to optimize the billing function and ensure WIP DSO is at or below planned levels.Mentor and enable Regional Controllers to optimize receivables collection and ensure AR DSO is at or below planned levels.Design new analytics to meet dynamic operations needs. Partner with BI Team to execute vision.Be a positive change agent in FandA and operations specific initiatives.Assist project managers with client-specific opportunities in price design.Lead, mentor, and train direct reports. Share best practices and prime the accounting operation for significant company growth.Desired Skills and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field10+ years of accounting experience, with 5+ years being within the engineering, consulting and/or construction industry5+ years of management experienceStrong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP specifically in revenue and cost recognition aspects of project accountingProficiency with Microsoft software and integrated accounting systemsStrong interpersonal, leadership, analytical and communication skillsSelf-starter with a high degree of
